Sightseeing in Beijing, China

Entrance to the Forbidden City

Entrance to the Forbidden City

Visited the imposing Forbidden City in the morning, then headed out into Tian’an’men Square under the gaze of the big painting of Chairman Mao Zedong.

Walked a ridiculous distance to the Temple of Heaven, then got hassled walking round a local market before retiring guiltily to Beijing’s only Starbucks, situated next to a beautiful lake and drinking milkshakes until the sun went down.

Terrible Peking Duck

Terrible Peking Duck

As it was time to start saving some money I checked out of the nice five star hotel and into a two star. Somewhat different.

I then visited the Summer Palace then ate copious amounts of Beijing/Peking duck. Not a great way to save money.
