Early in the morning I met up with my fellow travellers. The age split was a 50-50 mixture of young and old, but only two native English speakers; the rest being a mixture of Swiss and German, including the tour guide. Fortunately I can get by, but it made it feel more like work than a holiday…
Loading up the Maxi van we headed along the Caribbean coast to the ancient ruins of the Mayan city of Tulum. This was a series of towers and walls atop a cliff above the beach, and home to a collection of particularly large Iguanas which blended perfectly against the rock.
That evening we set up camp on a nearby beach – the beautiful Laguna Bacular and got to know each other over a few of the local beers.
