Suffering slightly from the previous night’s excesses, we rolled out of bed and decided the only way to wake up was to take a coffee tour. When I arrived in Costa Rica I really wasn’t a fan of coffee, but the quality here is amazing, and the coffee is entirely lacking in bitterness.
After taking a bus to Naranjo we took a cab to the coffee co-operative a couple of kilometres out of town where they started caffeinating us. First we drank a cup of each of their three types of coffee, then tasted freshly picked coffee cherries, then tried the beans at different stages of roasting, then tasted coffees at different stages of roasting before getting to the gift shop and overdosing on chocolate coated coffee beans. By this time we were so full of caffeine we were not only cured of our hangovers, but could see in slow motion.
After an overexcited lunch we got back to San Ramón to watch the football – Ireland v France in the afternoon, then Costa Rica v Uruguay in the evening before heading to a hotel near the airport for the next days flight home.
P.S. I added a few photos from other people to the previous 4 posts
