The flight from Lima landed in Newark exactly on time and I managed a 45 minute transfer, which was a pleasant surprise as the three previous crossings have taken upwards of two hours.
The transatlantic flight was fine. It was half empty so everyone had a row of 3 seats to themselves, which made everyone happy apart from one genius who had a row to himself yet sat at a non-working back-of-seat screen. Rather than move one seat across he ranted enough that the air stewards restarted the whole system, so everyone else had to mess around for ages fast-forwarding until they got back to where they were in their respective movies. Then they restarted it again…
My movie (The Book of Eli – watchable but pointless) finished and I stopped it and pressed Menu at which point everyone’s screens reset. I hope it was a coincidence.
Landing back in London it was a pleasant change to get through Immigration without too much worry, and quite handy that my bags were still in Newark, having not got loaded onto the plane in time. I got to cross London just carrying a small backpack, and the bags were delivered by courier the following evening.
Got home to find this – bugger:
