The take off from La Paz was successful despite the low air pressure – it’s the highest airport in the world. It’s actually quite a beautiful take off, with the El Alto area and all its terracotta buildings and whitewashed churches nicely framed by snow capped mountains.
Lima airport is odd – their website lists all sorts of amenities, but I can’t find any evidence of them, so sitting staring at the gift shop that sells little but straw llamas.
I have no ticket but the check in desk person at La Paz claimed it should magically appear an hour before takeoff. My luggage is somewhere in the system, untagged, but should carry on straight through to Newark.
What could possibly go wrong…
