Family life – Antigua, Guatemala

Antigua

Colourful streets of Antigua

Having made it back to Guatemala we made our way to Antigua, a moderately large city surrounded on all sides by three volcanos. It was founded in 1543, and was the capital until 1773 (yep…I finally read the guide book).

We stayed in a family house and had a pretty relaxed time, mostly just pottering round the cobbled streets and browsing the local market. Late on the first afternoon we hired a tuk-tuk to take us up one of the volcanoes to watch the sunset before slowly walking down and heading to the salsa clubs for a very long night.
