Great Wall of China, Part 1 – Mutianyu, China

Mutianyu Great Wall January

We’ve finally made it to the Great Wall. Having struggled and sweated our way up the 500 near vertical steps required to get there, we looked about in wonder, then dismay as we found the cable car that would have taken us to the same place for 20p. We walked along a few towers until I found someone offering toboggan rides down, which was an offer too good to miss. It’s a long, metal slide down and I got some decent speed up, but for any future travellers, note that Chinese people are shorter so don’t need to duck as much to avoid decapitation when passing though the tiny tunnels randomly placed along the route.
