Clothes Sizes – Dunhuang, China

Dunhuang
Clothes here come in either Chinese sizes, which are quite small, or occasionally in western sizes.

In an effort to put off doing the laundry for couple of days I went shopping for t-shirts (plus at 4 for a dollar, it would be cheaper to wear them once and throw them away). I’m western size XXL, which equates to a 5XL in Chinese, which some tourist places do actually sell, hence why I’m now the proud owner of an assortment of classy ‘I Climbed The Great Wall’ t-shirts.

Noticed in the tourist shop that sizes go through the usual XS, S, M, L, XL for the Chinese, then 3XL and 5XL for the tourists, then the next size t-shirt up is simply labelled ‘VAST’ and the next size short is delicately labelled ‘LARD-ASS’ with a picture of a westerner in a cowboy hat.
