Cape of Good Hope – Cape Town, South Africa

Cape of Good Hope

After an early breakfast we got introduced to our overland truck – home for the next month. It was a converted Mercedes with seating for 16 in the back, large windows, plenty of storage and a small fridge.

We drove along the coast to Hout Bay, then on to the Cape Peninsula National Park, where we looked at some Jackass penguins but more importantly found a new drink called Savannah Cider – perfect for the hot weather.

We carried on to the Cape of Good Hope, where we chose to be energetic and ignore the furnicular, instead climbing up to the lighthouse for a view over the whole area. From there we took a seaside path along the coast to the actual Cape of Good Hope where we stood at the top of the cliff looking westwards towards America. At the base of the cliff we had a picnic lunch before heading back to Cape Town past Cecil Rhodes house.
