If I had a penny for every time someone said to me ‘Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair’ today, I’d have 4 pence.
Arrived in San Francisco and after messing about a bit at the airport met the group (older than I expected, but all nice people) and were all transferred to the Mark Twain hotel (Excellent location, bit noisy).
After a short nights sleep went to a diner for a small breakfast of 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and two pancakes. This volume seemed to set the tone for the rest of the meals.
This set us up nicely for a comprehensive city tour in the morning during which we saw Haight & Ashbury (home to the hippies), Lombard Street (twistiest street in the world), drove over the Golden Gate Bridge> (shrouded in fog) ending at Fishermans Wharf and Pier 39 (home to lots of seals). We saw a tour by Segway but didn’t have time to partake so jumped on the trolley back to the hotel from where we headed to Chinatown for a great meal.
