With over a thousand photos of Bagan, mostly of temples, it was tricky to choose the ten most memorable.
My favourite view was from Dhamma Za Yi Ka Pagoda

And the pagoda was very attractive:

Shwezaigon Pagoda on the banks of the Ayarwaddy river. Brings back memories of Shwedagon in Yangon

The large building is Dhammayan Gyi
So here’s the view from Dhammayan Gyi:

…and the worst view from Bagan
This is the Nan Myint (High Palace) watch tower, built in 2005 as a hotel and viewing platform. It’s built right in the middle, amongst all the ancient temples. For those inside it probably commands stunning views across the plains, but is a travesty for those on the outside and despised by everyone we met.

Seriously…some of the best pics I’ve seen in a long time. Great stuff…
Your images of Bagan are magnificent. We travelled there 8 years ago, but during the dry season.
The luscious green foliage provides a perfect contrast to these ancient treasures.
I am amazed by your images, and our past memories have come flooding back. The power of photography!
I love reading your travel blog- which is absolutely inspirational.
We have just returned from a months exploration in Yunnan province, china. ( inspired by your blog)
Thank you for sharing
Louise
Thank you – that’s very kind. We were wary about travelling in the wet season, but I think it only rained for a couple of hours in the two weeks we were in Myanmar. The only thing we couldn’t do was the hot-air ballooning as they only fly in the dry season. Hope you had a great time in Yunnan!

Your headline says it all. Exquisite photographs.
What beautiful photos. Except for the last one, it made me laugh out loud
Beautiful photos. I love the way they’re surrounded by trees and greenery. It makes everything look so much more exotic! 🙂
I’d really recommend visiting in the supposedly rainy season. There are very few other visitors, everything looks so much more alive, and it barely rained.
Amazing shots! What month did you take the pictures?
