Week away to go and visit a friends family. Highlight was taking the lift to the top of the cliffs overlooking the town and finding a monastery full of brewing monks.
I loved Rome. Compact city with famous sights round every corner. Food was fresh and cheap and the last day spent in Vatican City was spectacular. Particularly recommended is going to the banks of the river for live music in the evenings, followed by dinner in the old town on the south side.
Five day trip to Iceland, if you count landing at 11.55pm as a day. The first proper day we jumped in a Super-Jeep and trolled around the thermal vents used to heat the island and generate all their power. Unfortunately it was unseasonably warm so Iceland turned into Greenland as all the snow rapidly disappeared. [...]
