Fake emails – Agra, India

During the rive to Agra I rather rudely read over one of the other passengers shoulders as they wrote an email home.

It detailed the very exaggerated hardships they were facing on the trip, the horrible foods they were reduced to eating and the terrible deprivation of the surrounding areas. It was all lies, as this section of the trip has been really quite comfortable, but looking back we did far worse through Central Asia than they could manage to make up.

No moral to that but I have been noticing a lot of differences between the people on holiday for a couple of weeks and those travelling for a longer term as I’ve been asked to write an article for a magazine on the subject. I’ve also been asked to contribute to a book on impressions of India so need to pick something to write about.
