Death Valley – Death Valley, California, United States

Another long hot drive to Las Vegas through Death Valley, which is all below sea level.

After running (slowly) round the sand dunes near Stovepipe Wells we went to the Visitor Centre.

All the US National Parks have a Visitor Centre which hands out excellent maps and guides and tends to have an auditorium or cinema where they show a well-made film with images and history of the local area, flora and fauna.

Just past Mustard Canyon (perfect place for a h-ambush – you had to be there I guess) we came across some salt flats. I thought they were a bit grey and dirty, then remembered to remove my sunglasses and found them to be a brilliant white.
