Unusual foods I’ve eaten around the world
The End – Cape Town, South Africa
We drove past Fish River canyon, then Clanwilliam and back to Cape Town. After a lunch of fish and ships surrounded by cheeky seagulls we spent the afternoon desperately shopping for gifts before retiring to an Irish Pub to recover. Later on met the group to return to the House of Meat from the first [...]
Biggest sand dune in the world – Sesriem, Namibia
After a long drive across the featureless Namib desert we arrived at Sesriem and my favourite campsite. Here we drank warm beer and played the locals on a dilapidated pool table long into the evening. The next day we got up early to walk over dune 44 to Dead Vlei, a clay pan near the [...]
A perfect day out – Swakopmund, Namibia
Three days drive via a petrified forest and Cape Cross seal colony (120,000 seals in one place stinks) to the resort of Swakopmund – a bit like Benidorm for Germans Spent the morning sea fishing off a boat – caught mostly inedible crayfish, but also a few bream, including a massive one that got away… [...]
Etosha National Park – Etosha, Namibia

Not sure I wanted to see it getting ripped to shreds, but it managed to get away. Highlight was getting a glimpse of a rare Black Rhino. [...]
